US OPEN PARTY A GRAND SLAM SUCCESS!
More
than 60 Foundation members gathered to watch, cheer and celebrate the
US Open Women's Singles Final on Saturday, September 6 at the Central
Oahu Regional Park Tennis Complex.
Kicking
off the day with an instructional clinic organized by Foundation head
professional Stefan
Pampulov and sponsored by Wilson and Wilson rep Sherry Banks, kids and
adults honed their strokes while trying out the new Wilson racket line.
Everyone then moved to the shade of the pavilion to enjoy a cookout while
cheering for either Kim Clijsters or Justine Henin-Hardenne.
Once
everyone finished with their food and as Henin-Hardenne completed her
straight set victory, the crew enjoyed the competition of World Team Tennis,
organized by Myrah Kim. Suffice it to say that Foundation members enjoyed
a fun filled day of tennis, both as players and spectators.
The
next Foundation sponsored event is slated for September 27-28 with compass
draw tournaments for men's and women's singles and mixed doubles. The
cost is only $10 for Foundation members for one event and $15 for non-members.
All players will provide pot luck food, while the Foundation will provide
beverages, balls and awards. To sign up or for more information, contact
the Hawaii Pacific Tennis Foundation office at (808) 677-1334.
