Foundation to Honor Chris James as Employee of the Year

The Hawaii-Pacific Tennis Foundation will honor Chris James as its 2003 Employee of the Year. The Foundation will present the award to James at it's Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet at the Okinawan Center in Waipio from 6:00 to 9:00 pm on Thursday, December 11, 2003.

Chris, a recent graduate of BYU-Hawaii and a member of two national champion men's NCAA teams, serves the Foundation as its maintenance director and a tennis professional. "Chris embodies the ideals of the Foundation with his hard work, honesty, integrity, self-initiative, teamwork and emphasis on customer service. Chris is an ideal employee who is passionately committed to the mission, goals and objectives of the Foundation. He is fully engaged in our service to Hawaii's tennis public" says Foundation executive director, Mark Beede. According to Beede, "Chris understands that achieving excellence lies in the details. He is a self-starter who looks to serve and improve, and acts accordingly. He is a true pleasure to work with. Chris understands how he fits into the big picture. At the same time, no job is neither too small nor too menial for him. He will do what it takes to make things better."

Tickets for the Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet are still available at $50 for the general public and $45 for Foundation members. The Banquet will feature as speakers USPTA President and national Coach of the Year David Porter, who will speak on the "Qualities of a Champion," and internationally renown coach Gavin Hopper, who will speak about "Life on the Pro Tour". To reserve a spot or for more information, email the Foundation at dav@hawaiitennis.org or call (808)677-1334.
